Khaberni - The president of the Chamber of Industry in Zarqa, Fares Hamouda, said on Thursday that Jordan was not affected by the disruption of supply chains, and that food consumption in Jordan relies on local products by 65%, indicating that the stock is sufficient for a period of 3 to 6 months of various food items.
He added on the "Voice of the Kingdom" program that the stock of basic materials in Jordan benefited from the month of Ramadan due to the increase in import operations to prepare for the holy month, which led to an increase in the stored quantities, in addition to storing goods for the summer season which was expected to witness active tourism movement, and he referred to the benefit of the stock from the decrease in prices during the year 2025 which raised the imported quantities by 14% compared to the year 2024.
Hamouda reassured the citizens that food materials are available in large quantities and there is no need to rush for them and store them at home.
Hamouda expected the prices of fertilizers to rise due to importing 40% of the fertilizers through the Strait of Hormuz, which may affect the prices of agricultural materials to a limited extent, in addition to the rise in prices of plastic and chemical materials that rely on oil in their manufacturing.
He explained that oil prices will return to pre-war levels when the war in Iran ends, emphasizing the necessity of finding alternatives for raw materials and transport routes used for importing if the war continues for a long period.
