Khaberni - The death toll from floods and landslides in Indonesia has risen to more than 200, with over 100 people still missing, according to the disaster management agency.
The spokesperson for the disaster management agency in West Sumatra province, Ilham Wahab, said late Friday, "To date, 61 people have died, and 90 others are still missing."
An earlier count indicated that 23 people had died.
In North Sumatra, the toll reached 116, and in Aceh province, at least 35.
Like Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, Indonesia has experienced heavy rains which have led to deaths and significant damage in the past few days.
The monsoon rainy season, spanning from June to September, causes heavy rainfall leading to landslides, floods, and waterborne diseases.
Earlier this month, 38 people died in landslides caused by heavy rains in central Java, while around 13 people are still missing.
