Khaberni - The Abu Dhabi court for family, civil, and administrative cases has ordered a man to pay one million dirhams to a woman after she had entrusted him with the amount, but he procrastinated and refused to return it when she demanded it back.

The lawsuit details indicate that the plaintiff resorted to the judiciary after failing attempts to reconcile with the defendant, and she submitted among her documents photos of a declaration issued by the defendant confirming his receipt of the disputed amount, demanding him to return it.

In response, the defendant denied the validity of the claim and requested the administering of the decisive oath to the plaintiff, which is an oath that appeals to the opponent's conscience when direct proof is unavailable, and its taking or refusal decisively resolves the dispute.

In a subsequent session, the plaintiff appeared before the court and swore the decisive oath as requested by the defendant, confirming that the latter had received the amount noted in the trust document.

Thereupon, after the court considered that the oath had settled the matter of the lawsuit, it ruled that the defendant must pay the plaintiff 1,000,000 dirhams, in addition to fees, expenses, and attorney's fees.
