Khaberni - Egyptian artist Mohamed Farag revealed the hardest scene for him in the series "Rose and Chocolate" directed by Mohamed Adel, which has gained wide viewership since its debut. Farag explained that the most challenging scene was the killing of the character Marwa, portrayed by the actress Zeina, in episode eight.
Farag posted part of the scene on his Facebook page, saying, "Among the scenes I was concerned about since reading the script of the series."
He added that the difficulty of the scene lay in it being the last meeting between Salah and Marwa, in addition to it being the last pivotal event in the series, noting that filming it took a long time and was exhausting for the entire team and actors.
The eighth episode saw widespread interaction on social media platforms, and it topped search engines amidst debate about the fate of Marwa's character.
The episode captures a decisive moment in the couple's relationship, after Salah lures his wife under the pretext of visiting a new house, before events escalate to their tragic climax when he hits her on the head with a heavy object, then strangles her, and uses a chemical substance to try and conceal the crime, eventually burying the body in an unknown location.
The scene caused a state of shock among the audience, due to its similarity to the details of a real crime committed against journalist Shaimaa Gamal, which made the episode a focal point of interest and follow-up on social media.
The events of the series "Rose and Chocolate" revolve around "Marwa", a successful journalist who seems professionally stable, but she suffers from emotional emptiness and a deep feeling of loneliness, which leads her to enter into a relationship with the lawyer "Salah", who has a strong presence and dominant personality.
As the events unfold, the other side of his character is revealed, turning the relationship into a suffocating space filled with emotional manipulation, control, and psychological conflicts, amidst a network of secrets that radically change the fates of the characters.
The series is written by Mohamed Raja, directed by Mohamed Jamal Adel, produced by Adel Group under producer Jamal Adel, and stars a group of prominent actors, including: Zeina, Mohamed Farag, Morad Makram, Safaa El Toukhy, along with a number of young faces, including: Youssef Hashish and Aya Selim.
