Khaberni - Representative Dr. Ahmed Al-Raqab, a member of the Reform bloc, described the government's response to his parliamentary question on the licensing regulations for resorts, halls, swimming pools, and tourist clubs as "far from reality" and "copy-paste", asserting that it does not reflect the true hardships faced by the citizens in the field.
Al-Raqab mentioned receiving complaints from citizens in various areas such as Al-Yadodeh, Al-Farouq suburb, the airport road, Madaba street, around Hittin College, and Jabr Complex, related to the presence of tourist facilities close to homes, places of worship, and educational institutions, in clear violation of official regulations.
He added that some of these establishments sell alcohol and include mixed swimming pools and festivals that involve practices not in line with societal values, in addition to the absence of sound insulation, despite it being a legal requirement.
Al-Raqab emphasized that the dispersion of responsibilities between the ministries of tourism, interior, the Amman municipality, and the municipalities, and the expansive powers of administrative rulers without effective oversight, have contributed to exacerbating the problem. He pointed out that he had not received any official reports on the enforcement of violations, despite their presence on the ground.
Al-Raqab held the government responsible for the harm suffered by the citizens and what he considered a threat to values and the spread of alcohol and drugs due to weak oversight.
