Khaberni - The Cabinet decided in its session held today, Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan to approve the reasons justifying the Meteorology Law project; in preparation for referring it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to proceed with the formal endorsement processes.
The bill aims to regulate the process of weather forecasting and the issuance of related bulletins in the absence of legislation that regulates it, which has led to the spread of weather forecasts from non-specialized bodies conflicting with the information and warnings issued by the competent authorities, and according to best practices.
The amendments aim to improve the weather forecasting process, enhance its credibility, and limit it to agencies with scientific and practical expertise in this field, in a way that contributes to supporting official efforts and integrating with them, supporting the early warning system in the Kingdom, and improving preparedness procedures for any emergency resulting from weather conditions.
