Khaberni - A thief in Istanbul carried out a series of repeated thefts targeting ATMs of a single bank, exploiting a security loophole that enabled him to withdraw money by opening the deposit units using simple tools.

The authorities revealed that the suspect executed 38 theft operations from 15 ATMs in various areas of the city, amassing about 199,760 Turkish Lira during the period from April 21 to November 18.

According to investigations, surveillance cameras captured a man concealing his features with a medical mask and a motorcycle helmet, using a screwdriver and similar tools to open specific ports in the deposit machines, and withdraw money from inside them.

The robberies were repeated in the same manner at all locations, prompting the theft prevention unit to launch a comprehensive investigation.

The research team managed to identify the perpetrator after matching recordings and reviewing criminal records, revealing that the suspect is a 36-year-old male, with prior police records.

Following this, specialized teams conducted a security operation in the Esenyurt area, which culminated with his arrest.

After completing the procedures at the General Security department, the suspect was referred to the public prosecutor, where the judiciary issued a decision to detain him pending investigation.
