A delegation of Damascus businessmen will visit Jordan next month

Khaberni - The high-level delegation from the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, including the Chamber's president and several members of its board alongside an expanded delegation of Syrian businessmen, will visit Amman at the beginning of next month to participate in a special event to announce the twinning between the Amman Chamber of Commerce and the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, and to hold bilateral meetings with their Jordanian counterparts.

The announcement of the visit followed extensive discussions conducted by the President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce, Senator Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, during a work visit to Damascus, with the President of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Engineer Essam Al-Gharayati, discussing the development of economic and trade cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, and opening a new phase of institutional work between the commercial chambers of the two brotherly countries.

The two sides, in the presence of Engineer Darwish Al-Ajlani, Fawaz Al-Akkad, and Dr. Amer Kharboutli from the Syrian side, discussed economic integration files and enhancing direct communication between the Jordanian and Syrian business sectors, contributing to opening new horizons for trade and investment, and reflecting the depth of the historical links between the two brotherly peoples.

Senator Al-Haj Tawfiq emphasized during the meeting that the Jordanian-Syrian trade relationships "are based on a long legacy of cooperation and mutual reliance," stressing the importance of transitioning from the consultation phase to the operational work phase by developing a robust institutional framework between the chambers of commerce, which supports efforts to increase the flow of goods and expand cooperation in the transport, logistics, industry, agriculture, and information technology sectors, and removing any procedural obstacles that hinder trade movement between the two countries.

Al-Haj Tawfiq mentioned that the Damascus Chamber of Commerce’s invitation to participate in the twinning announcement event includes a delegation of Syrian businessmen from the industrial, agricultural, commercial, and service sectors, to participate in bilateral meetings with their Jordanian counterparts, paving the way for building economic partnerships and mutual investments, and preparing for a Syrian-Jordanian economic summit in Damascus soon.

He confirmed that the Syrian market has seen a noticeable improvement compared to past years, and that economic opportunities are available for Jordanian companies, especially in the food, agriculture, services, and transport sectors, noting the participation of the chamber's delegation in one of the trade fairs in Damascus, and presence at economic events that reflected the vitality of the Syrian market and its readiness to welcome partners from Jordan.

The two sides also discussed the prospects for trilateral Jordanian-Syrian-Lebanese cooperation in the agricultural sector, especially in the areas of product exchange, organizing export seasons, and facilitating the movement of shipping across border crossings, as this cooperation represents an opportunity to support regional food security and maximize added value in supply chains between the three countries.

From his side, President of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce Engineer Essam Al-Gharayati expressed the Syrian side's keenness to deepen economic cooperation with Jordan, noting that the private sector in both countries has the capacity to launch a new economic phase based on mutual interests and capacity integration, especially in the food industries, agricultural products, and transport services.

Al-Gharayati emphasized that enhancing the connection between the chambers of commerce in the two countries is an essential step towards rebuilding economic bridges and creating a more stable business environment, expressing his appreciation for Jordan's role in supporting the path towards economic rapprochement.

At the end of the meeting, Senator Al-Haj Tawfiq confirmed that the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce would continue to work with the Syrian side to turn the proposed visions and initiatives into practical steps, which will enhance the presence of Jordanian companies in the Syrian market and open new horizons for investments and long-term partnerships.

These efforts are part of the policy of both chambers aimed at expanding the network of Arab relations and establishing the foundations for sustainable economic cooperation that serves the interests of the two countries and two brotherly peoples.
