Khaberni - Kuwaiti lawyer Mariam Al-Mo'men created a wide stir after a video was circulated showing her talking about the aftermath of an audio leak case involving her fellow countryman, artist Ilham Al-Fadalah, who was arrested as a result on charges of insulting Kuwait and using harsh critical terms.
In the circulated video, Mariam Al-Mo'men criticized an "artist" whose name she did not openly reveal, but the audience quickly linked her comments to the personality of artist Haya Al-Shuaibi, who is known for her public disputes with Al-Fadalah for years after their former friendship ended.
Mariam Al-Mo'men said that this artist contradicts herself, as she asserts she does not gloat over Ilham Al-Fadalah, while her official account commented with laughing faces on the incident, pointing out that this artist also has other conflicts with many celebrities, and always claims to be "the victim."
The lawyer added that it is inappropriate for anyone to attack a friend who has been estranged, or to gloat over them for any reason.
For her part, Haya Al-Shuaibi also did not respond directly, but she posted pictures and a comment on her "Snapchat" account, which was quickly circulated by social media users as a response to Mariam Al-Mo'men and what she said in the video.
Haya Al-Shuaibi wrote mockingly saying there is a well-known personality who is "talkative" and has nothing but interfering in others' privacy, and then continued: "I will not stoop to her level, poor thing, she forgot herself."
She continued in another picture: "God have mercy on the three who died in a car accident, God rest their souls last year," which was understood as a direct and clear reference to the accident committed by fashionista Fatima Al-Mo'men, the lawyer's sister, who is currently serving her sentence in one of Kuwait's prisons.
It is worth noting that Haya Al-Shuaibi's statements commenting on the Ilham Al-Fadalah incident had sparked widespread controversy after she confirmed on Snapchat that the audio recording attributed to Ilham Al-Fadalah "was not fabricated."
And she added: "I wish I were the one who leaked the recording, but it wasn't me." Her statements came at a sensitive time, prompting her audience and Al-Fadalah's followers to consider it gloating over her former colleague, especially since the case is still under investigation and no final judgment has been issued yet.
