AlOudat The merger of Education and Higher Education has not yet occurred

Khaberni - Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Munim Al-Oudat said on Monday that the merger between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has not yet taken place.

He added during an intervention in a legislative session of the House of Representatives that each ministry still has its own law and the merger has not yet occurred.

In talking about the amended "Military Service" law project, he said that the military institution enhances the spirit of belonging, discipline, and commitment.

He pointed out that the purpose of the law project is to empower youth as they are the influential force of the present and capable of shaping the future.

The House of Representatives, on Monday, approved an amended bill for the Military Service and Reserve Service law for the year 2025.

His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, announced last August the upcoming reactivation of the Military Service program, during his meeting with young men and women from Irbid Governorate.

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan confirmed that the project of Military Service and Reserve Service law would be among the government's legislative priorities during the coming period, in preparation to start the implementation of the Military Service program announced by His Highness the Crown Prince at the beginning of February next year.

The approval of the draft law completes the legislative procedures related to the reactivation of the Military Service program to commence at the beginning of February next year, following the announcement by His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, of the decision to resume Military Service.

The draft law organizes provisions related to some new legal requirements to activate and implement the Military Service program, cases accepted for postponing it, and enabling the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army to offer training programs in military centers and institutes for the conscripted, whereby educational authorities can count them within the study requirements for university students according to the instructions issued by the Council of Ministers for this purpose, and also counting them among the requirements and duties of Military Service.

The draft law also includes abolishing provisions that grant conscripts who complete Military Service any priority in appointments in ministries, departments, governmental institutions, companies, and private institutions.
