Khaberni - The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, Engineer Musa Al-Maaytah, emphasized the importance of youth participation in political life in general and elections in particular, considering them as a fundamental pillar in the journey of political reform, and a tool for positive change, serving their community and country, aligning with the vision of the Jordanian state, and the vision of His Majesty the King to widen the base of political participation.

This was during the inauguration of the regular session of the Student Parliament Council at the Middle East University, attended by the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Yacoub Nasser Al-Din, the University President, Professor Dr. Salam Al-Mahadin, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Hazem Al-Nasoor, and the Director of the Partnership Project at the Independent Election Commission, Aws Qutaishat.

Al-Maaytah affirmed the role of universities in instilling the values of democratic participation, as they provide a real environment for developing promising leadership, and an arena for gaining experience and fostering a culture of dialogue and respect for differing opinions, as well as playing roles in oversight and responsibility.

For his part, the Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees, Dr. Yacoub Nasser Al-Din, asserted the university's strong continuation in enhancing the democratic process and student political participation, considering students as a basis for development and reform, and leaders of the future. He noted that this initiative presents an advanced model of democracy by activating the role of youth as influential elements capable of making an effective contribution to decision-making and building Jordan's future.

Nasser Al-Din added that the inauguration of the regular session of the Parliament Union, attended by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, embodies a progressive image of true democracy at its finest, stressing the need to translate the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his Crown Prince in supporting and empowering youth, as they are the basis for development and reform, and the bet of the future.

Dr. Al-Nasoor also emphasized that the Student Parliament Union is not merely an organizational framework, but a school for practicing democracy and exchanging opinions responsibly, pointing to the great responsibility that rests on the shoulders of the youth in the Student Parliament, and urging them to continue the journey of their predecessors in conveying the voice of the students.

The meeting included a collective oath-taking by members of the Student Parliament Council in front of the University President, in addition to an expanded dialogue with the parliament members who appreciated the efforts made by the university to enhance the role of the parliament, emphasizing the need to join efforts to provide the best services for students.

The Middle East University, through this bold step, provides a living model to be emulated in preparing future leaders and instilling a culture of democracy and teamwork in the hearts of the youth.
