Al alBayt University Approves Quality Academic Resolutions

Khaberni - The Council of Deans at Al al-Bayt University has decided on a package of development resolutions for academic programs in line with the royal visions for comprehensive modernization led by His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, under the direct follow-up of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions, and following the financial measures approved by the Cabinet to enhance the sustainability of public universities; Al al-Bayt University continued to align its academic pathways with national modernization priorities, youth empowerment, and linking educational outcomes with labor market needs in the framework of the economic modernization vision.
In this context, the university president, Professor Osama Nasir, announced that the Council of Deans, in its session number (9/2025/2026) held on 2/11/2026, approved a package of strategic decisions to restructure academic specialties and introduce new quality programs that respond to economic and technological transformations, along with halting admissions for the academic year 2026/2027 in several stagnant and saturated undergraduate programs (Political Science, Sports, Physics, Chemistry, Fiqh and its Fundamentals, Arabic Language and Literature, Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Child Education) as well as in graduate programs (Applied Geology, Islamic Education Curricula and Teaching Methods, Economics and International Cooperation, Finance and Business Economics, Curricula and Teaching / Social Studies, Fundamentals of Religion, Chemistry, Architectural Engineering, Physics, Geographic Information Sciences, Life Sciences, Curricula and Teaching / Sciences, Curricula and Teaching / Mathematics, Mathematics, Curricula and Teaching / English Language, Shari’a Judiciary), thereby enhancing the efficiency of resource allocation and improving the quality of educational outputs. The restructuring also includes a number of academic programs to meet labor market needs as the History program, renamed as "History and Civilization," Life Sciences, renamed as "Biotechnology," Administrative Information Systems, renamed as "Business Information Technology"
Dr. Nasir emphasized that these decisions accurately translate the royal directives emphasizing the modernization of educational pathways, expansion in technical and applied education, and providing students with specialized skills required by the national economy, contributing to supplying the local market with qualified technical and professional competencies, reducing unemployment rates, expanding the employment and production base, in support of the country's path towards comprehensive economic modernization.
He explained that the Council conducted a thorough evaluative review of existing specialties and their study plans based on performance indicators and the needs of production sectors and foresight studies of the labor market, ensuring the development of programs according to the highest global standards and practices. The decisions also included the introduction of specialties that keep up with the digital transformation and requirements of the modern industrial revolution, enhancing the competitiveness of graduates on both local and regional levels, and cementing the university's status as a leading academic institution in serving national development.
Furthermore, a specialized committee of financial experts was formed based on the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to prepare a financial plan for the university for the period 2026 – 2029 that aligns with the economic modernization vision, including specific measures within time frames and performance indicators to ensure the measurement of financial performance and supervisory standards for its implementation. 
Dr. Nasir emphasized that the university is committed to enhancing its partnerships with public and private sector institutions, ensuring the sustainability of development, achieving effective integration between education and the labor market, serving the supreme national interest, and enhancing Jordan’s position as a center for academic and professional excellence.
Here, the university president and its academic and administrative family express their deep appreciation to the Prime Minister and members of the Cabinet, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the esteemed President of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission, for the financial decisions issued by the Cabinet, representing a qualitative support for public universities through alleviating their financial burdens, enabling them to enhance their institutional sustainability, and developing their infrastructure to serve the educational and research process.
