Khaberni - Government Communication Minister Mohammad Al-Momani said that the National Defense College is a main partner and national edifice for the qualification of security media leaders on the basis of operational and strategic thinking, noting that national security now encompasses the intellectual, social, informational, and media aspects.
He added during a lecture he delivered on Sunday, at the Royal Jordanian National Defense College entitled "The Strategy of the Ministry of Government Communication and its Role in Enhancing National Security", that the national media is one of the elements of the strength of the Jordanian state that reflects the image of the kingdom as a state of law, stability, and moderation pointing out that professional government communication is a main line of defense against misleading information and afflictions targeting the stability of society.
Al-Momani confirmed that Jordan is considered one of the best models that have succeeded in transforming the committed media system to be a contributor to the strength of society and the state, and its unity and resilience in facing challenges.
Al-Momani added that the national media committed to constants and working according to the national interest is a fundamental factor in the success of our journey towards reform and establishing the reasons for security, resilience, and stability.
He pointed out that the Jordanian state has focused on organizing and developing the media sector with awareness, civilization, and openness, in a way that enables it to communicate a message that embodies the authentic values of the Jordanian society, protects its supreme interests, and preserves the social fabric and national unity, noting that there are many legislations that regulate the work of the media and communication in a way that balances the supreme interest of the state and responsible freedom.
He referred to the importance of media literacy aimed at creating a state of community awareness to deal with the massive influx of information through various means, which is a challenge faced by most countries, noting that a rapid and accurate communicative response is a crucial factor in crisis management.
At the end of the lecture, which was attended by the commander, president, and members of the guidance body of the college, an extensive discussion took place during which the minister answered the questions and inquiries of the attendees.
