Khaberni - Following the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Interior and the implementation of the public safety system on the ground, the Governor of Jerash, Dr. Malik Khrayesat, announced the launch of a substantial campaign to remove illegally spread kiosks and stalls on public streets, especially along the Jerash - Irbid route, affirming that public streets are the right of citizens and passersby, and encroachment upon them is not permissible, and that the security and safety of citizens’ traffic is a priority that cannot be compromised.
Khrayesat explained that the random distribution of kiosks and stalls causes disruption in traffic movement and creates dangerous points on the road, in addition to detracting from the urban scene. He emphasized that this campaign aims to address these violations and restore discipline to the public streets.
The governor pointed out that the first phase of the campaign included educating violators and alerting them to the dangers of encroaching on the road's sanctity, and they were issued warnings and written commitments within specified time frames to remove the encroachments, this approach stems from a commitment to transparency and enhancing community partnership, and granting them sufficient time to rectify their status before moving to the removal stage.
Khrayesat indicated that the second phase – which began being implemented by the relevant authorities – includes the immediate removal of violations from public roads and the international route, and legal actions against those who did not abide by the given period.
To carry out the campaign efficiently and swiftly, the administrative governance formed a specialized committee chaired by the Governor's Assistant for Public Safety Affairs, and membership includes a representative from Jerash Police Directorate, Greater Jerash Municipality, Public Works Directorate, Gendarmerie Forces, and the Joint Services Council, to promptly execute and remove encroachments on-site.
The governor confirmed that the campaign continues in cooperation with all security and service agencies, aimed at improving traffic safety levels and preparing a safe environment for citizens and vehicles, ensuring markets are organized without affecting people’s livelihoods, but within the framework of the law.
Khrayesat concluded by saying:
"The security of our citizens is our goal, and maintaining traffic safety on public roads is our priority."
