Nabih Berri Lebanon is going through the most dangerous phase in its history

Khaberni - Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri demanded on Saturday "unity in the Lebanese stance in facing challenges, primarily the Israeli aggression," confirming "there is absolutely no fear of internal strife".

During his meeting today with the Lebanese Press Editors Syndicate, Berri said, "The current crisis that Lebanon is going through is the most dangerous he has ever faced personally and it is also the most dangerous in the history of Lebanon," adding, "There is no salvation or escape for us except through unity, then unity, then unity."

Regarding the possibility of Israel launching an aggression against Lebanon, Berri stated: "Has Israel stopped its aggression against Lebanon? No one can predict its aggressive intentions; unity in the Lebanese stance is what's required and this is most important."

On the ground situation in Southern Lebanon, Berri said, "For 11 months, the resistance has not fired a single bullet, as testified by the whole world and the UNIFIL mechanisms, Lebanon has fulfilled all its obligations regarding the ceasefire in the south of the Litani River, where more than 9000 soldiers and officers of the Lebanese army are deployed performing their full duties in this region, but when and where has Israel adhered to even one clause of this agreement."

He added, "This is the aggressive nature of Israel, but what is incomprehensible and unjustifiable at all is that the Lebanese stance is not unified regarding what Israel has done and is doing, and what it harbors towards Lebanon and the Lebanese."

Regarding claims about Hezbollah militia rebuilding itself and arranging its affairs, Berri said, "It is very natural for any party or organization or political component to rebuild itself," adding, "The allegations about smuggling weapons by sea, land, or air are false claims with no truth to them."

On the Saudi and Arab openness to Lebanon, Berri said, "Lebanon is a country for all Arabs and our hand has always been and remains extended to all Arab brothers, and my relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has never been severed."
