Tesla Opens Its Doors to Apple for the First Time CarPlay Support Coming Soon in Its Cars

Khaberni - After years of refusal, Tesla is preparing to integrate the "Apple CarPlay" system into its cars for the first time, in a significant shift in the company's strategy which has long upheld its proprietary entertainment and informational system.

Tesla is among the few companies in the automotive sector that have not supported "CarPlay" yet, a system that allows drivers to display their "iPhone" apps on the car screen, and control navigation, music, and calls through an interface familiar to Apple device users, according to Reuters.

Over the past years, Tesla has relied on its internal platform that integrates all car functions, including driving, navigation, media playback, and internet browsing, considering that depending on "CarPlay" reduces the privacy of the user experience inside its cars.

However, the stance seems to have recently changed, as the company has indeed begun testing the system internally, according to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to Bloomberg, noting that the feature could be launched in the coming months, with a possibility of delaying the final date according to the internal development plan.

The sources explained that the "CarPlay" system in Tesla cars will appear within an integrated window inside the main system interface, rather than occupying the entire screen as is the case in most other cars. They also confirmed that the version to be adopted will be the traditional "Wireless CarPlay," not the newer version "Ultra CarPlay" that Apple began rolling out earlier this year.

Experts hope that including "CarPlay" will boost Tesla’s sales, particularly after some potential buyers have hesitated to purchase its cars, due to the absence of this feature, which has become a standard in the modern automotive industry.
