The King and the President of Vietnam hold talks in Hanoi

Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II and the President of the Republic of Vietnam, Luong Xuan Phuc, held talks in the capital, Hanoi, today, Wednesday, which addressed bilateral friendship relations and regional updates.

His Majesty expressed during the talks his pride in the Jordanian-Vietnamese relations that extend for about 45 years, emphasizing his commitment to develop and institutionalize cooperation in various fields, including economic and defense cooperation.

His Majesty pointed out that the Jordanian-Vietnamese Business Forum, scheduled to be held tomorrow Thursday, marks a new phase of cooperation and strengthening partnerships between the private sectors of Jordan and Vietnam in various fields, and connecting South East Asia with the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

The talks covered opportunities to expand economic cooperation between the two countries in promising sectors such as the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industry, agriculture, and halal food.

The discussions also touched on updates in the region, where His Majesty emphasized the necessity of finding political horizons to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

His Majesty reiterated the need to ensure the commitment to implementing the agreement to end the war in Gaza and to intensify international efforts to respond to the humanitarian disaster.

His Majesty alerted to the danger of continuing escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, affirming Jordan's rejection of plans to expand settlements in the West Bank and annex territories and displace Palestinians.

His Majesty stressed the need to support the efforts of Syria and Lebanon in maintaining their security, stability, and territorial sovereignty.

On his part, the Vietnamese President confirmed his country's keenness on expanding relations and enhancing cooperation with Jordan.

On the sidelines of the visit, the governments of Jordan and Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding between the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and another memorandum of understanding between the Jordanian Diplomatic Institute and the Diplomatic Academy in Vietnam.

The talks were attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the Director of His Majesty’s Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Engineer Yaarub Qudah, and the non-resident Ambassador of Jordan to Vietnam, Sa'ed Al-Radaideh.
