Khaberni - Lamine Yamal's groin injury has become a persistent headache and an endless source of controversy between Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation, as tensions between the two parties have reached a climax after the player was once again excluded from the national team.
The Spanish Football Federation issued a statement on Tuesday saying: "The medical staff of the federation wishes to express their astonishment and displeasure after learning on Monday, November 10, the day the national camp began, that Lamine Yamal had undergone an interventional treatment using radiofrequency technology for groin pain that morning."
There are many questions surrounding the ongoing controversy of Yamal's injury which he has been suffering from since September.
Doctor Pedro Luis Reboul explained to the Spanish newspaper "Marca" the current condition of the Barcelona player's injury and the reasons for his absence again from Coach Luis de la Fuente's list.
The medical side of the treatment
Doctor to "Marca": "The groin injury suffered by Lamine causes him pain, and this pain was managed in the past hours through a minimally invasive technique that involves inserting needles into the pain area to send high-frequency electromagnetic waves aimed at impacting the nerves to reduce pain, and to reduce inflammation by stimulating blood flow."
The doctor added a warning: "This technique does not treat the injury itself, but it's palliative, merely easing the pain. This means that the player still suffers from a long-term injury."
He continued: "I do not agree with the wave of optimism that appeared after his recent matches. We always knew that his condition requires time and that the treatment involves managing his participation."
The doctor concluded: "But if there is a sports hernia or signs of bone damage start to appear at the tendon connection point, then surgical intervention becomes a higher possibility. It's a struggle for an 18-year-old player to avoid surgery and continue his career."
