Thunderstorms and Rain in the Levant at End of the Week

Khaberni - The latest weather analysis indicates the formation of a low-pressure system in the eastern basin of the Mediterranean by the end of the week, due to the influx of a cold air mass coinciding with the extension of the Red Sea's thermal low coming from the south, which will lead to unstable weather conditions in several areas, thunderstorms, and the possibility of flash floods.

Heavy Thunderstorms over Several Areas and Snow over the High Peaks of Lebanon

This low-pressure system is expected to cause unstable conditions bringing scattered thunderstorms to random areas of the Levant on Thursday, and the instability will intensify on Friday resulting in widespread thunderstorms across the Levant, with the potential for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Waterspouts off the coasts of the Levant are also possible, according to Arab Weather.

Over Saturday and Sunday, the influx of cold and moist winds into the Levant will increase, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures and heavy rainfall over Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine, extending to Jordan as random showers, especially in the northern and central regions.

It is also expected that there will be an opportunity for the first snowfall of the season over the high peaks of Lebanon, especially mountains that are more than 2000 meters above sea level, with heavy accumulations of snow, God willing.

Large Amounts of Rain Expected in Some Areas

The forecasts indicate that the low-pressure system may bring large amounts of rain to some areas of the eastern Mediterranean basin, where the rain in some Syrian and Lebanese coastal areas is expected to reach around 200 mm. These significant amounts of rain may lead to the formation of flash floods in low-lying areas and valleys, thus caution is recommended and daily weather updates should be followed.

Recommendation to Cancel All Outdoor Activities and Trips

Due to the weather forecasts indicating that the region will experience unstable weather conditions by the end of the week, accompanied by chances of heavy thunderstorms that may lead to flash floods and rising water levels in several areas.

It is advised to cancel all trips and outdoor activities in all regions of the kingdom, especially in the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea areas, starting from the end of the week until the end of the unstable weather condition.
