Khaberni - Dr. Nidal Al-Aouran, the Commissioner for Environmental and Public Safety Affairs at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, confirmed that there is no leak of ammonia gas or any other type of gases in the Southern Industrial Area of Aqaba.
Al-Aouran explained that the high levels detected by the air quality monitoring stations are due solely to increased dust levels in the air, and do not indicate any gas leakage or an abnormal increase in gas concentrations in the air.
He pointed out that the air monitoring station in the Southern Industrial Area operates 24 hours a day, and its readings are continuously monitored by the Aqaba Authority staff to ensure environmental safety and the safety of workers.
The Commissioner for Environmental Affairs emphasized that any cases of suffocation or inhalation that were recorded were caused only by dust, and not by vapors or leaked gases, affirming that the environmental situation in the Southern Industrial Area is normal.
