Khaberni - US President Donald Trump posted on his "Truth Social" account pictures from his meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Shar` in his office at the White House on Monday.
This comes after a historic meeting between al-Shar` and Trump, marking the first visit by a Syrian president to the White House ever.
Trump stated after the meeting that he is "in agreement" with al-Shar`, noting that Washington will do everything in its power to support the stability and success of Syria.
Trump said, "We expect an announcement about an agreement between Syria and Israel, and we want to see Syria as a successful state, and I believe this leader is capable of achieving that."
Trump added that President al-Shar` has a "difficult past," but considered that this past "has given him experience and the ability to overcome challenges."
Trump emphasized that his country is working with various parties in the region, including Israel, to achieve understandings that contribute to stability, saying: "We need to make Syria succeed, as it is an essential part of the Middle East, and things are going very well."
