Khaberni - The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Monday that the statements made by the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the elections represent a clear and unacceptable intervention.
The Ministry added in a press release that it has followed the statements made by the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Baghaei, regarding the elections in the Republic of Iraq.
The Ministry expressed its surprise at this statement which it finds provocative and sees as a clear and unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of Iraq.
The Ministry emphasized that the electoral process is a purely national matter that is subject exclusively to the will of the Iraqi people and its constitutional institutions.
The Ministry affirmed that Iraq maintains balanced relations with its neighbors, based on the principle of mutual respect for sovereignty, and non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
It also emphasized that maintaining good neighborly relations requires a precise commitment to these principles, and avoiding any statements or positions that could infringe on Iraq's sovereignty or interfere in its internal affairs.
