Khaberni - U.S. Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Trisha McLaughlin announced an increase in flight delays in the United States due to the ongoing government shutdown.

McLaughlin told "Fox News" on Saturday, "Every day Americans will face more delays and problems due to the Transportation Security Administration workers not getting paid."

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump had previously imposed restrictions on air travel at a number of American airports starting November 7th.

According to aviation navigation tracking websites, 1025 flights were canceled in the United States and 7,000 other flights were delayed on November 7th, in addition to 879 cancellations and 2,300 delays during the first half of Saturday.

It is noted that the government shutdown in the United States has been ongoing since October 1st due to disagreements between Republicans and Democrats in Congress regarding the government funding bill, resulting in the furlough or suspension of many government employees.

The current shutdown period has become the longest in U.S. history.
