Khaberni - A major crisis erupted between American President Donald Trump and The New York Times, after he launched a scathing attack on the newspaper, describing it as “failing and a disgrace to journalism,” and accusing reporters Lily Ko and David Pearson of "trying to smear" his meeting with President Xi Jinping, asserting that the meeting was excellent.
Trump stated in his comments that The New York Times did everything possible to make the meeting appear very bad in every possible way, while it was actually a tremendous success. He mentioned that the newspaper misrepresented the facts and did not cover the real outcome of the talks with the Chinese side, according to a report published by Russia Today.
In his angry remarks, Donald Trump pointed out that China, with extreme wisdom, withdrew its threat concerning rare earth metals, bought billions of dollars worth of soybeans and other agricultural products, and agreed to pay large tariffs, considering this a huge victory for the United States and indeed for the whole world. He added that Chinese President Xi Jinping is a very close friend of his, and that both sides did what was right for their countries, confirming that the meeting led to an excellent relationship and specific plans for future talks and meetings.
Trump concluded his statement by saying that The New York Times attempting to spin this great event negatively is a disgrace to journalism, adding, “No wonder they do such a poor job.. After all, they are the fake news.” These statements came after the American president met his Chinese counterpart a few days ago in Busan, South Korea, to discuss bilateral relations between Beijing and Washington.
