Khaberni - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Iran has not conducted any negotiations with the United States, indicating that what took place between Tehran and the American side was only an "exchange of messages".
Araghchi said in a press interview on Wednesday: "I can say with certainty that we have not conducted any negotiations or discussions with the American side so far."
He affirmed that "our current policy is to continue resistance and defend the country, and so far we have no basis for negotiations."
He stated that "the American side has sent many messages through friendly countries in the past few days."
He continued: "If a message is received and we respond to it with a warning or announce our stance, that does not constitute negotiation or dialogue, but it is an exchange of messages," adding that "the exchange of messages also served as a warning, for example, we issued warnings regarding the 48-hour deadline set by the United States" for opening the Strait of Hormuz.
He noted that "the messages included ideas conveyed to high-level officials, and if a stance needs to be taken, it will be announced."
Araghchi confirmed: "We do not want a ceasefire, as a ceasefire is nothing but a vicious circle that reignites the war again... We want to end the war in a way that does not recur, on our terms."
He emphasized that "the enemies must receive a lesson that they will no longer want to attack Iran," noting that it is also necessary "to compensate the Iranian people for the damages they have suffered."
In this regard, he indicated that "international guarantees are not a complete guarantee, as the guarantee we set ourselves means that no one will dare wage war against the Iranian people anymore."
The minister said: "If I were to list for the enemies what we have achieved in this war so far, I would find many. Perhaps the most important is that we have shown the world in this war that no one can easily confront the Islamic Republic."
He continued: "In fact, we have created for ourselves a security shield that has shown to the whole world that any attack on our interests will have severe consequences. This is an authentic security guarantee that we have made ourselves."
The Iranian minister considered the United States' talk about negotiations to be "a kind of acknowledgment of defeat."
He reminded: "Didn't they talk about 'unconditional surrender' before? What has happened now for them to talk about negotiations and demand them?"
This came in response to statements by US President Donald Trump that the United States had begun talks with those he described as "suitable people" in Iran.
Media reports indicated that the United States had presented Iran, through intermediaries, a 15-point plan to end the war, but the White House did not confirm its accuracy, merely stating that "some of it" was indeed true.
