Afghanistan Announces Failure of Peace Talks with Pakistan

Khaberni - Afghanistan has declared the failure of the latest round of peace talks with Pakistan in Turkey.

On Saturday, the Afghan government blamed the failure on what it described as "Islamabad's irresponsible and uncooperative approach," according to "France Press".

The spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban government, Zabihullah Mujahid, said in a statement published on social media, "During the discussions, the Pakistani side tried to place full responsibility for its security on the shoulders of the Afghan government, while showing no readiness to take responsibility for the security of Afghanistan or its own security."

Last month, the armies of the two countries clashed, resulting in the death of dozens in the bloodiest violence of its kind since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021.

On October 19, the two sides signed a ceasefire in Doha, but a second phase of negotiations held in Istanbul this month ended its first round without reaching an agreement on a sustainable truce.

The two countries resumed talks in Istanbul on Thursday before Kabul announced their failure.
