Khaberni - The Emirati star Omar Abdulrahman "Amoory" brought down the curtain on his football career on Thursday, a career that saw him crowned as the Best Player in Asia along with many high artistic moments and numerous injuries.
The Emirati star announced his retirement from football on Thursday through his "Instagram" account, saying, "I announce with all love and gratitude my retirement from football after a beautiful journey that lasted for years full of challenges and achievements."
One of the major challenges that faced "Amoory" was a cruciate ligament tear. He first suffered it in August 2009 while preparing to participate with the UAE Under-20 national team in the World Cup, and exactly two years later, the same injury occurred again during a camp for the UAE national team.
Amoory then recovered and became an indispensable player in Al Ain and the UAE national team, transforming into one of the prominent stars of the Asian continent after winning the UAE League with Al Ain on five occasions, three President’s Cup titles and the same in the UAE Super Cup, as well as receiving the Best Player in Asia award in 2016.
Omar made an exciting decision after deciding to join the Saudi Al-Hilal in the summer of 2018 following the end of his contract with Al Ain, and after only 6 matches, he suffered a cruciate ligament injury against Al-Shabab, and after recovering, he joined the "Blue" camp the following summer, but the contract was not extended between the two parties due to what the club called "the player's and his agent's procrastination in responding to the club’s offer".
"Amoory" returned to the UAE to wear the Al Jazira jersey in August 2019, and with the capital team, he played 24 matches in a year and a half during which he scored 5 goals and during his time with "the Spider," he faced many injuries that led to the termination of his contract in January 2021.
