Khaberni - Pilot Peter Villegas has transformed into a national symbol in Venezuela, after he declined a bribe of $50 million from the American intelligence, which was intended to reroute the presidential plane and make an emergency landing at an American base to arrest President Nicolas Maduro.
Despite his salary being reduced to a quarter, his financial struggles, and his opposition to Maduro—not having voted for him; Villegas’ conscience, patriotism, and professional honor prevented him from committing treason. He recognized that treason is not a political opinion... treason is a fall into an abyss from which there is no return.
It is extremely painful to see those who share the same religion, language, and history with you abandoning their principles, siding with the forces that oppose their nation, and justifying all the harm and aggression that befalls their homeland, their people, and their brethren.
Principled stances are not measured by the level of salary or personal gains; they are measured by how steadfast a person is when their honor is tested.
