New Yorks Narrowest House For Sale How Much is it Worth

Khaberni - A house considered the narrowest in New York City has been put up for sale, located at 75½ Bedford St in the West Village area, with an interior width of only about 8.5 feet, which grants it a unique character and significant value despite its limited space.

New York's Narrowest House
This historic building, dating back to 1873, features a Dutch-style façade spread across three floors and a basement with a small backyard measuring 150 square feet, adding a touch of greenery and additional freedom for its residents.

Throughout its extensive history, the house has been home to many famous Hollywood personalities, such as Cary Grant and John Barrymore, as well as a group of artists, writers, and researchers like Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Edna St. Vincent Millay, who rented this house in the 1920s, using the upper floor as her sanctuary for writing and creating her literary works.

The house preserves many original details that highlight the Victorian era, such as wooden stoves, fireplaces, wooden-beamed ceilings, and oak floors.

With large windows and high French doors allowing an abundance of natural light, it reduces the feeling of tightness that usually accompanies small spaces.

The house was recently upgraded by the current owners, who added various modern touches including updating kitchen cabinets and electrical work, along with extensive improvements in the backyard to make it more comfortable and attractive.

Real estate agent Corneti Glaser from Sotheby’s International Realty says: "There's no feeling of tightness here— the atmosphere is bright and open, making visitors feel like they are in a modern European space despite the house’s storied past."

Despite its narrow width, the house's intelligent interior design utilizes every possible space, making it truly unique in today's New York market.
