Khaberni - The Moroccan Royal Court announced on Tuesday that October 31 each year will be a new national holiday called "Unity Day," celebrating the historic transformation in the course of the Western Sahara issue and reinforcing the national and territorial unity of the Kingdom.

The statement noted that King Mohammed VI will grant his noble pardon on this occasion, emphasizing that the holiday reflects adherence to national unity and the legitimate rights of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The statement clarified that the name "Unity Day" symbolizes national unity and adherence to territorial integrity, and that this occasion will be a national opportunity to express national cohesion and the sanctities of the Kingdom.

The announcement coincided with the decision of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797/2025, which considered granting Western Sahara autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the most feasible solution to the conflict ongoing for 50 years.

The Security Council emphasized the need for all parties to engage in negotiations based on the autonomy plan presented by Morocco in 2007, and to renew the peacekeeping mission in the region for another year.

Morocco's plan to support autonomy in Western Sahara has received strong support from members of the European Union and an increasing number of African allies, this strengthens the Kingdom's position on the international stage and consolidates its efforts to establish a realistic and sustainable political solution for Western Sahara.
