Khaberni - The French authorities have warned that they might block the Chinese fashion company "Shein" after it was discovered that the Chinese e-commerce company was selling sex dolls in the shape of children.
Last week, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control in France announced the discovery of the dolls on "Shein's" website, noting that their descriptions and classifications left no doubt about their pornographic nature related to children.
The Directorate referred the case to the public prosecutor, and today, the French Minister of Economy Roland Lescure said he would seek to ban the "Shein" website in the French market if such incidents were to recur.
The minister added in an interview with BFM TV: "This is stipulated by the law.. In cases related to terrorism, drug trafficking, or child pornography, the government is entitled to request a ban on accessing the French market."
The law empowers the French authorities to issue orders to internet platforms to remove content that is clearly unlawful, such as child pornography, within 24 hours. If not complied with, the authorities can demand internet service providers and search engines to block access to the website and delete it from their list of sites.
The Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control reported that it had issued an official notice urging the platform to take urgent corrective measures.
