Khaberni - The Economic Court in Cairo ruled today, Monday, to dismiss the lawsuit filed by actress Afaf Shuaib against director Mohamed Sami, in which she sought compensation amounting to five million pounds, based on her accusation of him for slander, defamation, and libel during his appearance on a television show.

The details of the incident date back to the beginning of this year, when Sami appeared on a talk show and accused the famous actress of lying and concocting stories and situations that did not happen, during their filming of the series "Adam" in which she starred alongside singer Tamer Hosny in 2011, prompting her to file a lawsuit against him accusing him of publicly insulting her.

Fined, then Cancelled
This case saw a number of sessions where the misdemeanors court issued a ruling fining Sami an amount of five thousand pounds, and referred the civil lawsuit to the competent court,

However, the appellate court canceled this ruling, and filed the reasons for its judgment that acquitted the director of the accusations of insulting and defaming Shuaib.

Curtain Falls on the Case
Subsequently, Shuaib's defense filed an appeal to cancel the ruling to the Economic Court, along with a request for a financial compensation of five million pounds, until the curtain was drawn on the case today after the court ruled to dismiss the lawsuit, after this case had sparked widespread interaction in the artistic and media community during the past period.
