Khaberni - WhatsApp has launched a new feature aimed at helping users manage their phone storage space more easily, through enabling the possibility to directly view memory usage details from the chat window itself, without the need to go into the app settings.
The new feature was first spotted on Android phones in the beta version last week, according to WABetaInfo, a website specialized in tracking Meta app updates.
This feature allows users to identify the size of large files within each individual conversation, and to sort or delete them immediately, which facilitates the disposal of accumulated video clips and pictures that consume phone capacity.
The site explained that this step is designed to give users faster access to shared media in their conversations, without the need to move to general storage settings, noting that it makes the data management process simpler and helps keep chats organized in real-time.
Previously, users had to access the settings then storage and data then manage storage to find out the space occupied by conversations, but the new update simplifies this process by making it available directly from within the chat itself.
In the past, it was possible to view "media, links, and documents" within each conversation, but without displaying the storage size occupied by those files specifically, which is the gap that the new update addresses.
This feature comes as part of a series of updates that Meta recently launched for the WhatsApp application. Last month, an instant message translation feature was added, which allows for translating texts by long pressing on the message, after it previously required copying and pasting it into another application.
The company also unveiled in August (August) new tools to combat online fraud, following the deletion of more than 6.8 million accounts in an extensive campaign against fraud centers in Southeast Asia.
It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp also began displaying ads to a number of users since June, as part of efforts to expand its income sources and develop its services.
