Instagram tests feature for embedding links within posts

Khaberni  - Instagram has started testing a new feature that allows subscribers to the paid Meta Verified service the ability to add clickable links directly within the text of the posts.

The photo sharing platform has always restricted the ability to publish links within user posts, with the available spaces being limited to Stories, as well as Reels videos, along with the ability to add a link in the account's Bio description on the profile page.

According to what Andrea Valeria posted on her personal account on the "Threads" platform, the new trial feature allows users subscribed to the Meta Verified service to add up to 10 links per month to personal posts on their account.

Meta confirmed to the tech site Engadget that it is currently testing the feature exclusively for subscribers to its paid benefits package, although the company did not clarify the scope of availability for the feature on a trial basis, and whether it plans to generalize this service to all subscribers soon.

Currently, the feature is limited, as the link appears only clickable when viewing the post through the Instagram app on smartphones, while when viewed from the platform's website, the link appears as text that cannot be clicked.

Instagram's restrictions on sharing links on the platform are one of the distinctive features of Instagram since its launch, as the limited availability of this feature has created space for a large number of services based on the idea of presenting many links and information within a single electronic link, or as known as Link in Bio.

Content creators heavily rely on such services, such as Linktree, where the content creator directs his followers to the personal information space on the homepage of his account on Instagram, where they find a link that, when clicked, takes them to an outside space displaying information or other links to various web pages related to the content creator.

With this new feature upon its official arrival, Meta will be able to attract more subscribers to its paid packages, Meta Verified, which start at $14.99 per month, while the value of the highest version of those packages reaches $499.99 per month, in return for getting numerous features, most notably the blue authentication mark and direct contact with technical support, among many other benefits.
