Khaberni - Dr. Victoria Goforushko, a nutrition expert, explains the reasons why some people feel heavy after having a lunch rich in meat and potatoes.
The expert points out that science has revised the old beliefs related to separate meals, explaining, "An American scientist in the 1920s proposed a theory about separate meals, but about 15 years ago, after reviewing how the digestive system works, it turned out that the theory had no basis in reality."
However, Goforushko says that some practical observations from this theory may still be useful, such as paying attention to the classic combination of meat with potatoes or pasta, as her practical experience has shown that this type of meal causes bloating, discomfort, and heaviness in the stomach for many.
The expert confirms that this phenomenon does not apply to everyone, because some people naturally tolerate this combination.
"Often the problem lies not in the mythical 'incompatibility' between foods, but in the characteristics of the person's digestive system and the type of food they have been accustomed to since childhood," she says.
