Khaberni - Spanish media revealed a stunning surprise, where the corridors of Barcelona club are living in the wake of an exciting development that could redraw the administrative scene of the Catalan club before the 2026 elections.
The newspaper abc_es reported that the legend Lionel Messi has decided to intervene indirectly in the upcoming electoral conflict against the current president, Joan Laporta.
The newspaper clarified: "Sources close to the Argentine player's environment indicate that Messi does not plan to support any specific candidate at the moment, but he is willing to endorse anyone who has real chances of winning, in a move carrying significant symbolic implications considering his status within the club and his long history with Barcelona."
It continued: "Messi's decision seems to stem from old disputes that have not yet been resolved, as he still feels bitter about the way he left the club in the summer of 2021, when he was about to renew his contract before Laporta backed out at the last moment citing financial restrictions imposed by the Spanish league."
It added: "This incident, according to discussions in Catalan circles, left a deep wound in the relationship between the two parties, as Messi considered what happened a betrayal of the trust that existed between him and the president."
On the other hand, several groups within the club are moving to form a united front against Laporta in the upcoming elections, striving hard to attract Messi's symbolic support, due to the tremendous influence he holds among fans and shareholders, as his presence alongside any candidate would represent a strong leverage capable of changing the electoral power dynamics inside Camp Nou.
Although Messi is currently continuing his career in the American league, his emotional and fan-based connection with Barcelona still exists, making his stance on the upcoming elections the focus of everyone's attention. Many within the club believe that just expressing his opinion or subtly hinting at supporting a particular side would be enough to tip the scales.
