Khaberni - Napoli, last season's champions of the Italian football league, face the risk of losing the services of their star Belgian international midfielder Kevin De Bruyne until the beginning of next year, due to a tear in the hamstring muscle of his right thigh, according to what the southern club announced on Monday.
Napoli said in a statement: "After being injured in the Inter Milan match on Saturday, Kevin De Bruyne underwent examinations that revealed a major tear in the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh."
The club, which regained the top of the league from Milan at the end of last week after defeating Inter 3-1 and Milan's stumble with last-placed Pisa 2-2 on Friday at the opening of the eighth round, added, "The player has already started the rehabilitation program," without revealing more details.
"Gazzetta dello Sport" newspaper and "Sky Sport" channel clarified that it is not expected for De Bruyne to play again in the year 2025, thus he will be absent from competitions for at least two months.
De Bruyne was injured immediately after opening the scoring from a penalty in the 33rd minute, where the former Manchester City English player stood still, placing his right hand on the hamstring muscle of his right thigh surrounded by his teammates. Unable to walk and with a grim expression, he initially received support from his teammates before the club doctor and one of his assistants helped him off the field.
