Khaberni - Amer Abu Obaid, the president of Al-Hussein Club, confirmed that the idea of establishing a basketball team is part of the club’s future vision, although it does not currently constitute a priority, as the management's focus remains on the requirements of the football team.
Abu Obaid added that Al-Hussein Club naturally aspires to be present and competitive in more than one sport, and not to limit its activity to football only. However, the current focus is on the football team, as it has won the league title in the last two seasons, and is continuously striving to win the title for the third time, requiring high concentration and both technical and administrative stability, according to Petra.
He affirmed that if the club decides to enter the basketball world in the future, it would not be merely to participate, but with a competitive mindset to vie for titles from the start, which would necessitate comprehensive preparation that includes infrastructure, technical staff, and players, alongside financial and administrative planning.
Abu Obaid pointed out that the project still needs thorough study and long-term planning to ensure it meets the level befitting the club’s name and history, stating that the idea exists within future plans, but it will take sufficient time to mature in a way that realizes the club’s ambitions.
