Khaberni - The forgery scandal of marks of several students in the Faculty of Law at the Official Lebanese University continues to unfold in Lebanon despite the announcement by the university president Dr. Bassam Badran two days ago, suspending Mujtaba Murtada, the manager of the first branch of the Faculty of Law.
The General Directorate of State Security, which has taken over the investigation of this file after reports of Kuwaiti students being involved as well, confirmed the occurrence of forgery operations and tampering with marks and competitions in the Faculty of Law and Political, Administrative Sciences - the first branch affiliated with the Lebanese University.
In a statement today, Friday, it clarified that the extensive investigations it conducted, which included examining the competitions, their withdrawal, and reviewing the records and students' data, revealed multiple forgery operations.
Forgery of signatures and modification of marks
It also pointed out that the inquiries proved the swapping of papers in competitions, as well as forgery of professors' signatures, and alteration of marks either directly on the competitions or through the electronic marking system.
The directorate mentioned that a number of specialized professors and employees confirmed the manipulation that affected a large number of Lebanese and foreign students (previously reported as Kuwaiti).
Furthermore, the investigations led to the detention of employees who confessed to the charges attributed to them, as well as a Lebanese student named (M.H) for his participation in the crime.
It should be noted that the Lebanese University with all its branches is funded by the state and is considered one of the most famous higher education institutions in the country, which is mostly attended by the Lebanese populace, especially since it is almost free.
