Khaberni - The Turkish authorities found today, Friday, the body of a newborn infant buried in the courtyard of a mosque in the city of Sanliurfa, southeast of the country, in a shocking incident that stirred the Turkish street.
According to Turkish media, a group of children who were planting saplings in the courtyard of the Euphrates Mosque in the Euphrates area of Seferihisar noticed something strange in the soil, and after digging, they discovered a child's body carefully buried in the dirt.
Immediately, the children informed their families who rushed to call the police, where security and medical teams attended the scene. After a field examination by the medical and forensic teams, it was confirmed that the body belonged to a newborn infant.
The scene of the incident was carefully inspected before the body of the child was transferred to the morgue at Seferihisar State Hospital to complete the legal procedures and determine the exact causes of death.
The Turkish police launched an extensive investigation that included reviewing surveillance cameras surrounding the mosque, in an attempt to identify the person or persons who buried the infant in the mosque courtyard, amid conjectures that the crime occurred within the past few hours or days.
The incident sparked a massive wave of anger and sympathy on social media in Turkey, where many expressed their shock at the incident and demanded the authorities reveal the details of the crime.
