Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality has begun the expansion works on Al-Jaysh Street in Al-Mahatta area, as part of the fourth phase of the area’s development, within the strategic project for redeveloping the old neighborhoods of Amman.
The Executive Director for the Development Projects of Amman neighborhoods and tourist paths, Engineer Mohammed Abu Zeitoon, confirmed that the Greater Amman Municipality began the expansion of Al-Jaysh Street in Al-Mahatta area, and is adding a fourth lane aimed at improving traffic flow and creating new infrastructure for the area.
Abu Zeitoon indicated that the Greater Amman Municipality plans to demolish its own buildings within the scope of the new, fourth lane to expand Al-Jaysh Street, in coordination with the concerned authorities, and taking the necessary supervisory measures to ensure public safety at the site during demolition works.
Abu Zeitoon explained that the purpose of executing the project is to create a new infrastructure for the area, make traffic improvements, sidewalks, pedestrian lanes, and aesthetic enhancements, in addition to constructing pedestrian bridges to offer better services to residents and visitors of the area.
This project is part of the Greater Amman Municipality’s plan to develop the old neighborhoods of Amman, in line with the goals of its strategic plan for the years 2022/2026, which focuses on improving services, enhancing sustainability, and employing technology to achieve the municipality's vision of transforming Amman into a smart city.
