Khaberni - Polish star Robert Lewandowski has reignited speculation about his future after revealing in press statements that he had indeed said yes to Manchester United in 2012 when he was a player for Borussia Dortmund, but the management of the German club rejected his departure at that time, considering that the deal was not appropriate from the sporting perspective for the team.
According to the Transfer News Live account on X, Lewandowski clarified that his desire at that time was strong to play under the legend Alex Ferguson, noting that he felt the experience in England would have represented a new step in his career, but he respected his club’s decision and continued in the Bundesliga, before later moving to Bayern Munich and there creating one of the most successful careers in European football history.
He added: "Revisiting that old story comes at a time when the future of the Polish striker with Barcelona is witnessing a lot of controversy, especially since his current contract ends in the summer of 2026 amidst news of some clubs' desire to sign him, including Manchester United which is looking for an experienced striker to lead the front line next season."
Meanwhile, Spanish reports indicate that Barcelona's management has not yet decided on Lewandowski’s continuation, as the club assesses the balance between the great artistic value he provides and the financial challenges it faces in the current stage.
Despite being in his mid-thirties, Lewandowski still maintains a high level and confirms his desire to continue playing at the top levels, which makes the possibility of his move to the English league, after a long career in Germany and Spain, an exciting idea that could mark a notable end to his career filled with titles and records.
