Khaberni - Dr. Israa Mustafa Al-Shara', Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering and Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Science and Technology, received the IEEE Region 8 (Europe, Africa, and the Middle East) award for the year 2025 as the Best Volunteer in the Women in Engineering (WIE) Community The 2025 Outstanding Women in Engineering (WIE) Section Volunteer Award.
This was announced in a statement issued by the university today, Wednesday, during a meeting of the Region 8 Committee No. (125) held in Dubrovnik – Croatia on October 18, 2025.
This award is granted in recognition of the distinguished volunteers who have provided leadership efforts and notable services in supporting the goals of the Women in Engineering community within the local IEEE branches.
The honoring of Dr. Al-Shara' came in recognition of her outstanding leadership and commitment to empowering women in engineering fields, and her continuous efforts in enhancing diversity and equality and increasing the impact of WIE activities in the Jordan IEEE branch she represents.
This achievement confirms the leading position of the University of Science and Technology in supporting academic competencies and initiatives aimed at empowering women in the fields of science and engineering, and embodies IEEE’s mission in supporting technological innovation and professional growth to serve humanity.
