Khaberni - A joint survey conducted by "Reuters" and the Ipsos Foundation showed that most Americans support the United States recognizing the Palestinian state, indicating that American President Donald Trump's opposition to this step does not reflect the public opinion trend.
According to the survey results, which was conducted over six days until last Monday, 59% of participants support recognizing the Palestinian state, compared to 33% who oppose it, while the rest did not specify their position or abstained from answering.
The survey revealed significant differences between the supporters of the two parties, with 80% of Democrats supporting the recognition step, compared to only 41% of Republicans.
Regarding efforts to cease fire in Gaza, 51% of respondents considered that Trump deserves praise if the ceasefire continues, while 42% thought otherwise.
This shift in American public opinion coincides with a wave of increasing Western recognitions of the Palestinian state, where France, Britain, and Spain recently announced their official recognition, a step considered a response to the Israeli genocide war that lasted two years in the Gaza Strip and left more than 67,000 martyrs, most of them women and children.
With France and Britain joining, Palestine has now received recognition from 4 of the 5 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, after Russia and China had previously recognized it since 1988.
According to United Nations statistics, the State of Palestine is recognized by 143 countries out of 193 member states in the international organization, at a time when pressures on Washington are increasing to review its stance on the Palestinian issue in line with American and international public opinion.
