Approval of the Gas Supply Agreement from AlRisha Field to the Power System in Jordan

Khaberni - The Cabinet in its session held today, Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, decided to approve the natural gas supply agreement from Al-Risha Field to the electrical system in the Kingdom, involving the National Petroleum Company, the Jordanian Logistics Company for Oil Facilities, the National Electricity Company, the Jordan Liquefied Gas Company, Samra Electric Power Generating Company, and the Advance National Company for Natural Gas.

The agreement aims to organize the process of the Jordanian Logistics Company for Oil Facilities purchasing natural gas from the National Petroleum Company, along with its processing services and transportation to the Samra Company's sites through the Jordan Liquefied Gas Company for utilization by the National Electricity Company.

The agreement is expected to contribute to achieving the objectives of the national energy strategy in terms of increasing the contribution of local energy sources in the total energy mix.

The agreement also aims to market the gas from the National Petroleum Company, creating a revenue source to enable the company to implement its plans for drilling wells and increasing production from the Al-Risha gas field, where natural gas is distinguished by being less costly than traditional energy sources and contributes to greater environmental preservation when used.
