Khaberni - The Central Bank of Jordan, on Thursday, in cooperation with institutions of the financial banking sector, launched the national awareness campaign in the fields of cybersecurity and financial consumer protection, coinciding with the Global Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which occurs in December each year.
The Governor of the Bank, Adel Al-Sharkas, during the launch ceremony attended by representatives of financial and banking institutions, confirmed that the financial sector has witnessed a qualitative leap in the path of digital transformation over the recent years. Electronic banking services, digital wallets, and payments through smart phones have become an essential part of our daily lives. We have also expanded in the FinTech sector and innovations and artificial intelligence technologies, opening up promising investment opportunities.
He said that with these developments, new risks such as electronic fraud, phishing, and ransomware attacks have emerged, making awareness essential for protecting everyone.
Al-Sharkas added that the campaign is not a fleeting media activity, but a deeply committed message from the bank to spread awareness about the importance of protecting and securing digital banking transactions, which enhances trust in the financial and banking sector.
Al-Sharkas stressed the need for concerted efforts to raise awareness about cybersecurity for institutions and individuals in the financial sector, noting that awareness is the first line of defense for our economy and the cybersecurity of the kingdom's cyberspace.
The campaign aims to enable citizens to recognize the most prominent methods of electronic financial fraud and how to confront them, such as fake messages and phantom links, and emphasizes the basic rule that financial institutions do not ask their clients to disclose their confidential information over the phone or email.
The campaign targets all segments of society, and content will be published through social media outlets and the media, and events and campaigns will be held throughout the kingdom.
