Royal Jordanian continues its flights despite regional developments and enhances Jordans connection with the world

Geopolitical conditions impose significant operational and financial challenges on Royal Jordanian

Khaberni  –  Royal Jordanian Airlines stated today, Thursday, that it continues to operate its air flights to various destinations whose skies remain open and safe, amidst the security developments in the region and the challenges imposed by the regional situation on the aviation sector.

The company confirmed that it is taking a set of precautionary measures to ensure the continuity of its operational activities according to the highest safety standards, in light of the closure or restriction of some airspace in the region, which forces airlines to alter some flight routes to avoid these airspaces.

Samer Majali, Deputy Chairman/CEO of Royal Jordanian, said that the company manages its operations cautiously and flexibly in light of the current geopolitical developments, explaining that these circumstances impose significant operational and financial challenges on Royal Jordanian and the aviation sector in the region in general.

Majali added that the company faces rising in operational costs, notably the use of alternative, longer air routes to avoid closed airspaces. He also pointed out that the rise in global fuel prices, alongside increased insurance and operational costs, places additional pressure on the company's financial performance.

He noted that these developments come at a time when the demand for travel is witnessing a significant downturn, where booking rates and the number of passengers have decreased on some routes due to the uncertainties in the region, in addition to an increase in requests for ticket refunds or booking modifications by travelers affected by the current conditions, which in turn negatively affects liquidity, amidst the exceptional circumstances facing the aviation sector.

He affirmed that Royal Jordanian continues to manage these challenges through well-considered operational and financial measures aimed at maintaining the continuity of operations and mitigating the impact of the current conditions as much as possible.

Majali clarified that Royal Jordanian will remain the national carrier for Jordanians, and will continue to play its role in connecting Jordan with various destinations around the world, maintaining the highest standards of safety and service despite the challenges faced by the aviation sector in the region.
