Khaberni - The White House denied media reports that claimed U.S. President Donald Trump is considering a request to release rapper Sean Combs "Diddy", aged 55, who is serving a 50-month prison sentence after being convicted in a case involving human trafficking.
According to the "Daily Mail", the denial came after the "TMZ" newspaper published a report quoting a "source inside the White House" who said that Trump "is considering pardoning Combs" after he pardoned former representative George Santos last week, adding that the president "will do what he thinks is appropriate despite his team advising against it".
However, an official White House spokesperson told the "Daily Mail" that the report is "false" and added, "There is absolutely no truth to what is being circulated; the president alone has the final decision in matters of pardons and sentence commutations, and not so-called anonymous sources."
Judge Arun Subramanian issued the ruling on October 3, noting that Combs "caused irreparable harm" to his victims, referring to the assaults on model Cassie Ventura and another unidentified woman. Despite his acquittal on charges of human trafficking and organized crime, the prosecution considered the current conviction a step towards holding influential stars accountable who have used their power for decades.
This controversy arises as Combs' lawyers continue to move to appeal the sentence issued against him at the federal appeals court in New York, where his lawyer Alexandra Shapiro officially filed a notice of appeal against the conviction.
