The Distant City breaks records and revives the glory of Turkish drama

Khaberni - The series "The Distant City" (Uzak Şehir) shattered viewership records, recording one of the highest results in the history of modern Turkish drama, after airing its thirty-fourth episode, which topped all television measurement categories in Turkey.

The series, based on the show "Al Hayba" and aired on Kanal D, continued to lead the viewership charts thanks to its thirty-fourth episode, which was aired yesterday Monday, featuring protagonist "Alia" deciding to donate her kidney to save "Boran", in a scene critics described as the "peak of the season" in terms of dramatic impact.

The episode's viewership reached 16.31%, making it the highest of the second season, while the episode summary alone scored 10.12%, an unprecedented number for a Turkish series in years.

The "Distant City" also outperformed all competitors, achieving 45.14% of the viewership share in the "all persons" category, 39.34% in the "AB" category, and 41.81% in the "20+ABC1" category, securing the top position in all ratings.

According to Turkish analysts, the series has brought television back to the center of public interest after years of dominance by digital platforms, becoming the talk of the town and media alike.

The closing scene of the episode where "Alia" decides to donate her kidney to save "Boran", instead of "Jihan" who nearly risked his life to save his brother, dominated social media, and the hashtag #UzakŞehir topped the trends list in Turkey within hours.

It is worth mentioning that episode 34 was aired on Monday, October 20th (October) 2025 at 8:00 PM on Kanal D, and is available dubbed in Arabic on the Shahid platform and other digital platforms the following morning.

The second season features a selection of stars, most notably Ozan Akbaba, Sinem Ünsal, Gongja Jelasun, Atakan Özkaya, Sahra Şaş, Nezmi Kirk, Delin Dogru, and Mufid Kayajan, while the screenplay was written by Gulizar Ermak and directed by Ahmed Katiksiz.
