The King Calls for Ensuring All Parties Comply with Gaza War Termination Agreement

Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II called today, Monday, on the countries of the Middle East and Southern Europe to work jointly, in coordination with the United States and the partners, to ensure all parties comply with the agreement to end the war in Gaza at all its stages, paving the way for regional stability.

His Majesty emphasized, during his participation in the summit of the Southern European countries "Med 9" in Portorož, Slovenia, the pivotal role of the European Union in implementing the agreement, including supporting the efforts of the Palestinian National Authority in a manner that serves the interests of the Palestinian people.

His Majesty King Abdullah stressed the importance of simultaneously working to enhance humanitarian response in Gaza and ensuring sufficient aid delivery to minimize the catastrophic consequences of the war.

His Majesty discussed the two-state solution conference held in New York, co-organized by Saudi Arabia and France, where King Abdullah extended an appeal to build upon the outcomes of the conference, and recognition of the Palestinian state by several countries.

His Majesty underscored the necessity of calming situations in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinians on their land, warning against the dangers of unilateral actions.

His Majesty King Abdullah added that the ongoing challenges faced by the Middle East and Southern Europe require sustained cooperation and coordination, pointing out that the "Med 9" summit exemplifies efforts to enhance dialogue and elevate coordination to address shared challenges.

The "Med 9" summit convened with the participation of leaders from Southern European countries, and leaders and representatives from the European Union, comprising Slovenia, Cyprus, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, and Croatia, which are the nine European countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

The summit discussed the cease-fire agreement in Gaza, all its elements, and the subsequent steps for implementing all its stages, and the roles the "Med 9" member countries can play to ensure the success of the agreement, leading to a complete end of the war and the creation of a real horizon for lasting peace.

The summit proceedings touched on the importance of maintaining comprehensive calm in the West Bank and preventing any attempts or actions that threaten security and stability and undermine the two-state solution.

His Majesty King Abdullah appreciated receiving the invitation to participate in the summit in its second year, which confirms the depth of Jordan's relations with Slovenia and Southern European countries.

His Majesty highlighted during a working lunch for the leaders of the participating delegations, the importance of exploring ways to build upon economic growth opportunities between the Middle East and Southern Europe.
